Spacewalk An Oculus Rift-enabled space exploration game.

As Ben @ Penny Arcade writes:

“When my son comes into my office and I’m wearing the Oculus Rift, he doesn’t ask what I’m playing. He asks where I am. When I bring the development kit to a friend’s house we don’t say that we’re going to put it on, we say that we’re “going in” or “coming out” when we take it off. The vocabulary of play changes when you’re wearing the headset and a pair of headphones. Right now I’m floating around a space station.”

The Hasbro My3D was a 3D viewer for the iPhone (US only). I wondered why someone didn’t add a strap to it, making it a virtual reality like experience using the gyroscope for head tracking. Then the Oculus Rift came along and set the new bar for VR experiences.

Stefan Welker is working on Dive, a cross between the My3D and Oculus Rift and I’m curious enough to want one.

The story of how Lego began.

“As The LEGO Group celebrates its 80th Birthday, we take a look back at its history with this short animated film.”

I LOVE this analogue moon landing simulator!
“This simulator was designed to provide a pilot with a detailed visual encounter with the lunar surface; the machine consisted primarily of a cockpit, a closed-circuit TV system, and four large murals or scale models representing portions of the lunar surface as seen from various altitudes. The pilot in the cockpit moved along a track past these murals which would accustom him to the visual cues for controlling a spacecraft in the vicinity of the moon. Unfortunately, such a simulation — although great fun and quite aesthetic — was not helpful because flight in lunar orbit posed no special problems other than the rendezvous with the LEM, which the device did not simulate. Not long after the end of Apollo, the expensive machine was dismantled.”

“In Shelter the player takes on the role of a badger mother who needs to protect her cubs from the dangers that exist in nature. The game takes the player on an emotional journey, and focuses heavily on creating attachment between the player and the badger family”.

Yes please.
